Pennyrile Area Community Band Director invites community to Spring Concert

The Pennyrile Area Community Band is hosting its annual Spring Concert on Friday, and Band Director Lori Boehman appeared on WHOP to share all of the details.

The theme of this year’s concert is “My Favorite Thing,” and Boehman says she was inspired by the upcoming consolidation of Hopkinsville and Christian County High Schools. She says the band will play some of the current and prior school band directors’ favorite pieces.

Along with an evening of music, Boehman says their scholarship recipients, David Harper, Timothy Hanley and Sophia Wilson, will be recognized.

The scholarships are made possible by community donations, and Boehman says that although the concert is free to attend, donations are always welcome. Those donations also support the band’s instrument needs.

Following the Spring Concert, Boehman says the band will be hosting two concerts in the summer, celebrating the Fourth of July and the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Friday’s concert will be at Christian County Middle School’s Performing Arts Center and starts at 6 p.m.
