Local art guild invites artists to create public art pieces on Greenway Trail

The Hopkinsville Art Guild is inviting artists and creators in the community to design public art installations for their Hopkinsville Greenway Trail Art Project.

In a news release, the Guild states that they strongly believe adding permanent art to the Greenway Trail will enrich the experience of those using the trail. The art pieces will be like landmarks and can be made using metal, glass, paint, wood, stone, concrete, mosaic tile and lighting. The pieces should also have a lifespan of 20 plus years outdoors.

The guild is currently accepting art proposals, and artists will have to provide a cover letter, a conceptual proposal, project timeline, budget and a resume, which will be evaluated by guild members.

The art pieces will be installed at the Library Trail Head at 1101 Bethel Street, the North Drive Trail Head at 450 North Drive and the Pardue Lane Trail Head at 151 Pardue Lane. The deadline to submit proposals is May 31, and the guidelines are available at hopkinsvilleartguild.org.
