One charged, corrections officer injured in stabbing at Ky. State Penitentiary

Kentucky State Police are investigating after a staff member at the Kentucky State Penitentiary was reportedly stabbed by an inmate last week.

According to a news release, troopers were called the penitentiary in Eddyville on Friday for reports that an inmate had assaulted a lieutenant on Friday at just before 5 p.m. Preliminary investigation determined that 57-year-old Sean Noakes of Florence, Kentucky had stabbed Lt. Zabulon Pierre with a sharp object.

Pierre was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Noakes is currently incarcerated on a murder conviction out of Boone County, and while he’s been at the penitentiary, he has been additionally convicted on three other felony assault charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
