Fiscal Court approves road access agreement, hears legislative updates

It was quick work of the agenda at Tuesday’s meeting of the Christian Fiscal Court, as magistrates approved some measures and heard updates regarding legislative action.

Several items were declared surplus from the Christian County Jail, the County Treasurer’s Office and the Christian County Animal Shelter. Then, magistrates approved a memorandum of understanding with Atmos Energy to allow for some road access to allow for work to be conducted; while insuring they will correct any damage done to the roadway.

Magistrate Rich Liebe says a lot of work is happening in Frankfort, including introduction a road plan and funding to fix county roadways that are looking worse for wear following icy weather earlier this year.

Magistrate Russ Guffey was among the crew that traveled to the state capitol recently, where they advocated for various items on behalf of the county. One of the things they discussed was the fact that Christian County is considered a ‘daycare desert’, and how they would go about addressing that shortage.

In other action, the Fiscal Court adopted a resolution to approve the lease for a van that the sheriff’s office will use.
