The Boys’ District 8 Basketball Tournament semifinals will begin tonight at Hopkinsville High School.
In the opening game, the host Tigers will face Fort Campbell at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers are 15-13 on the year and defeated the Falcons in their only meeting of the regular season, 92-36. Fort Campbell, which is coached by former University Heights Academy player Austin Byrum, enter the game at 9-17. The Falcons have not beaten the Tigers since 2006.
Airtime for the game is at 5:15 p.m. on Newsradio 99. 3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
The second semifinal will feature Christian County against UHA at 7 p.m. The Colonels defeated the Blazers 75-65 two weeks ago in Blazer Gym. Christian County enters the game at 12-12 and UHA is 7-16.
Airtime for the game is set for around 7 p.m. with the UHA broadcast on 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP and the Christian County broadcast on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
Tickets to tonight’s games are $10 cash-only at the door. Fans are reminded about the no purse and no bag policy and all fans will have to enter at the top of the gym and go through the metal detectors.
The winners of tonight’s game will meet for the District 8 Tournament title at 6 p.m. Friday at HHS in what will be the final games played in Tiger Gym, which opened in 1968.
