University Heights Academy participated in the Akridge Ace Jam at Lyon County on Saturday and dropped a 63-54 boys’ high school basketball game to Mayfield.
Mayfield (12-9), which is coached by former Hopkinsville High School assistant coach Payton Croft, jumped out to a 21-15 lead after one quarter and expanded the lead to 35-25 at halftime.
The Blazers (6-12) held the Cardinals to only eight points in the third quarter, but could only close the gap to 43-35.
Keshawn Moore led UHA with 20 points. Hayden Hunt and Kayn Simmons each added 12 for the Blazers.
Owen Byrd led the Cardinals with 19 points and Malik Kirby added 14.
UHA is scheduled to play host to Logan County tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and airtime is 7:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
