Attorney General’s Office receives over 70 price gouging reports

Kentucky remains under a State of Emergency following Winter Storm Fern, and since Friday, the Attorney General’s Office has received over 70 reports concerning price gouging.

In his emergency declaration, Governor Andy Beshear implemented the state’s price gouging laws to protect Kentuckians from overpriced goods and services. According to Attorney General Russell Coleman, his office has received 74 price gouging reports so far.

The majority of the reports pertained to fuel-related issues, concerning kerosene, propane, and gasoline purchases. Coleman says severe weather makes citizens more vulnerable, and protecting Kentucky consumers during emergencies is a core responsibility of his office.

Coleman encourages folks to report any suspected price gouging by calling 1-888-432-9257 or by filling out a Price Gouging Complaint Form online.
