The Christian County and Hopkinsville High Schools have been battling on the basketball court since the 1959-60 season.
Tonight, after 66 years, the two rivals could be playing for the final time as the schools will consolidate next season.
Hopkinsville will play host to the Colonels in a girls’/boys’ doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. today with the girls’ game. The boys’ game will follow about 20 minutes after the conclusion of the girls’ game.
Hoptown won the boys’ game 61-49 two weeks ago in the teams’ final meeting at Lyle Dunbar Gym.
Hopkinsville Head Coach Anthony Babb said his team is playing well and the key to winning tonight is in the details.
Meanwhile, Christian County Head Coach Dior Curtis said his team also is coming off one of its better performances of the season in a 58-57 overtime loss at Graves County Tuesday night.
The Colonels are finally getting healthy and Curtis said the key for his team is being fundamentally sound.
Hoptown enters the game at 13-9 while the Colonels are 7-9.
The Hopkinsville broadcast will be at 5:45 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP. The Christian County broadcast will be at 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
