KSP urge motorists to drive with caution as roads become impacted with ice

Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post 2 have responded to around 40 calls early Wednesday morning concerning wrecks as a result of icy roads.

State Police were dispatched to 30 collisions and most of them occurred on the Western Kentucky Parkway between Caldwell and Muhlenberg counties and other highway roadways in that area. Three of those collisions also reportedly resulted in injuries.

A couple areas are experiencing increased traffic and lane closures due to wrecks. One of the northbound lanes of the Western Kentucky Parkway has been closed near the 83-mile marker. Then, a portion of KY-672 in Caldwell County has traffic delays, because two semi-trucks hauling trailers were blocking the roadway after running into ice.

Ice on the roadway can sometimes appear to be wet pavement, so State Police are advising motorists to be cautious and to take it slow while driving.
