Peek hired as UHA assistant volleyball coach

University Heights Academy’s volleyball program got a boost on Tuesday after former Hopkinsville High School Head Coach Laykin Peek was named as an assistant in the Lady Blazers’ program.

UHA Athletics Director Taylor Sparks said he was excited to have someone with Peek’s knowledge join the program, which is led by Faye Hendricks.

Peek will be the director of skills and development for the Lady Blazers. Peek said in the role, she will work with the freshmen, JV, and varsity volleyball players.

Hendricks, who has coached the Lady Blazers for 16 seasons, said she was excited to have someone with her experience help with the program.

Peek was the head coach for Hopkinsville High School for four seasons. The Lady Tigers’ program ended last fall as the Hopkinsville program and Christian County programs are consolidating this fall.
