Hopkinsville High School’s swim team honored its lone senior, Grace Cansler, Tuesday night in a three-team home meet against Fort Campbell and Christian County.
Cansler celebrated by helping the Lady Tigers’ 200-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay team take first-place. The freestyle relay team of Saralynn Major, Kaley Bangart, Lily Johnston, and Cansler finished in 2:04.52 and the medley relay team of Cansler, Brilyn Merrick, Johnston, and Major had a time of 2:15.61 Individually, Cansler also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:19.41.
Hopkinsville won the girls’ meet with 132 points. Fort Campbell was second with 93 points and Christian County scored 49.
Major and Bangart swept the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:33.82 and 2:28.36, respectively. Major also edged teammate Kaydon Coats to the wall in the 100-yard freestyle. Major finished in 1:07.09 and Coats touched the wall at 1:11.71.
Bangart earned first place in the 500-yard freestyle event in 6:39.90.
Johnston picked up a win over Cansler in the 200-yard IM. Johnston finished in 2:43.46 with Cansler finishing in 2:44.84. Johnston also won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:20.55.
The Lady Tigers’ 400-yard freestyle relay team of Evelyn Bangart, Sarah Kate Gilliam, Brooke Ebbinger, and Kaley Bangart took second place with a time of 5:02.09.
Fort Campbell, which also celebrated its senior night at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center, won a close boys’ meet with 95 points. Hopkinsville was second with 79 and Christian County scored 73.
For the Tigers, Levi Johnston took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.94 seconds. Johnston also grabbed a win in the 100-yard freestyle in a tiem of 56.33 seconds.
Owen Lockhart took first place in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:36.63.
Hoptown’s boys’ 200-yard medley relay team of Owen Lockhart, Simon Lockhart, Levi Johnston, and Luke Johnston finished runner-up in 2:19.68. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Elijah Ebinger, Owen Lockhart, Simon Lockhart, and Levi Johnston was second in 2:02.01.
Owen Lockhart was runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:32.93.
