Lyons knock off Blazers for All ‘A’ region crown

University Heights Academy gave a valiant effort, but Lyon County was able to fend off the Blazers to win its third straight Boys’ Region 2 All “A” Basketball Tournament title Saturday night, 85-68.

The game was closer than the score would indicate as UHA trailed by only nine points with 5 minutes to go and had multiple possessions to cut into the lead. However, the Blazers’ had three 3-pointers rim out and Lyon pushed its lead out in the final minutes.

Lyon County raced out of the gate, grabbing a 24-15 lead and extending the advantage to 52-32 at halftime.

KeShawn Moore had 32 points to lead UHA, which fell to 5-6 on the season. Bray Kirk had 28 points and Nolan Coffman added 23 for the Lyons (10-5).

The Blazers are back in action tonight at home against Hopkins County Central. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with airtime at 7:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
