Hopkinsville Police arrested 38-year-old Tyrone Pannell of Hopkinsville on Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted an 8-year-old child.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on South Virginia Street for a disturbance report. At the scene, the caller told officers that Pannell reportedly grabbed her son by the throat and threw him against the ground.
The child also reportedly confirmed what the caller told officers. The child allegedly had red marks on his neck and told officers that he heard a ringing sound in his ears and had trouble breathing for a brief moment after he was thrown to the ground.
Pannell reportedly denied strangling the child and said the caller had been violent towards him. He was charged with second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
