The return of frigid temperatures is reminding us that winter is far from over, and the National Weather Service in Paducah is urging folks to be prepared for winter weather events.
From extreme cold to freezing precipitation, winter brings its own hosts of hazards where it comes to the weather and Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Weilgos with the National Weather Service in Paducah detailed some of those dangers, urging folks to be cautious where it come to cold and slippery surfaces.
Forecaster Derrick Snyder also explained that they issue winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings based on what the impacts of the weather will be, not necessarily on what the precipitation will look like.
Snyder warned of the dangers of black ice, saying it can be deceptive to the naked eye and quickly ruin your day.
