The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville and the Donegan family is inviting those looking for someone to celebrate Christmas with to join them for a community lunch and worship event on Christmas Day.
Branches of the Salvation Army are often led by a family unit, and that’s true for Hopkinsville’s branch as well, which has been led by Lieutenants David and Brittany Donegan for a couple of years now. This year, the Donegans and their children are inviting anyone in the community who may be down, lonely, struggling and in need of fellowship, to join them on Christmas Day at the Salvation Army’s 313 East Seventh Street Dining Hall for the “Don’t Be Alone on Christmas” community lunch and worship service.
Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m., where participants can enjoy food prepared by community cook Sheila Croney, who will be preparing all the Christmas classics, with the hope of helping all feel at home.
The Christmas worship service will begin immediately following the lunch, across the street at the Salvation Army Worship Center.
Lt. David Donegan says, “For many, Christmas is a beautiful season. But for others, it can be one of the loneliest times of the year—marked by loss, depression, or isolation. This day is about making sure no one has to be alone.”
No registration is required—folks are inviting to simply come as they are.
