The Christian County Lady Colonels turned up the defense and rolled past visiting Madisonville 67-44 Monday night in a girls’ high school basketball game.
Christian County (2-0) forced the Lady Maroons to commit 19 turnovers in the first half and raced out to a 32-19 lead at the break.
The pressure continued in the third quarter as Anaysia Bagwell converted several steals into points and the Lady Colonels pushed their lead to 49-28 entering the final period.
Bagwell had 15 of her 21 points in the second half.
In the fourth quarter, Carliah Hobson dominated the Lady Maroons as she pumped in 12 of her 17 points.
Genesis McGee also had 12 points for Christian County (2-0).
The Lady Maroons (1-2) also struggled as their leading scorer, Macy Wright, fouled out with 6:56 to play. Wright finished the game with 18 points.
Christian County returns to action Thursday night against Portland, Tenn., at 7 p.m. in the second game of the Toyota of Hopkinsville Classic. Airtime is set for 6:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
