SWK EDC launches 6th annual regional wage, skill survey

By News Reporter Gabby Cedano

The South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council (SWK EDC) launched its sixth annual regional wage and skill survey as part of the ongoing “Getting Ready to Win” (GR2W) initiative.

The survey is shared with major employers and industries throughout the region to help identify current wage and benefit trends, skill shortages and areas where additional support may be needed.

Associate Director Tony Prim emphasized that understanding workforce needs remains a central focus for the region’s industries. He says that the survey will offer clearer insight into employer expectations and opportunities, enabling the SWK EDC to collaborate more effectively with education and workforce partners. He also says this effort is essential to ensuring that both current and future workers are well prepared to take advantage of the region’s job opportunities.

Information gathered through the survey will guide efforts to maintain competitive wages and benefits while shaping training and educational programs needed to build a strong workforce for the years ahead. The survey is part of the GR2W initiative, which also includes promoting the 100,000-plus square-foot spec building in the I-24 Business Park, securing industrial site-development grants, launching the Fort Campbell Industrial Maintenance and Mechatronics Program and coordinating SWK Ignite Tours.

Executive Director Carter Hendricks says that the Boyette Economic Impact Analysis Report underscored the substantial economic benefits resulting from thirteen industrial announcements since 2022. He says that while celebrating recent growth is important, sustaining and supporting existing industries remains a key priority.
