Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel announced that Tammy Ferrell will serve as the next principal of Sinking Fork Elementary School.

Ferrell will begin her tenure on July 1, 2026, after spending the past three and a half years as the school’s assistant principal. Her appointment comes after current principal Lacey Ramirez was selected to serve as the principal for the Freshman Success Academy at the new Christian County High School.

Bentzel says he is excited to welcome Ferrell into the principal role, and that she has a strong understanding of Sinking Fork Elementary’s culture and community and her experience as assistant principal has prepared her for this next step. He also says that Ferrell has demonstrated a genuine commitment to students, staff and families and is confident that she will continue moving the school forward.

Ferrell is a Christian County High School graduate and started her education career with CCPS 22 years ago. She previously taught math at Belmont Elementary, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and Sinking Fork Elementary before transitioning into an administration role in 2022. Her academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in education from Austin Peay State University, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in education administration from Murray State University and another master’s degree of science from Walden University.

Ferrell says she is absolutely thrilled to become the next principal of Sinking Fork Elementary School. She says working alongside Mrs. Ramirez since 2022 was a privilege, and she looks forward to building upon the positive momentum they created. Ferrell also says Sinking Fork feels like a family and expressed her commitment to supporting students, staff, families and the wider community.
