If you go downtown in Hopkinsville, you’ll find the historic Alhambra Theatre nestled in its heart, where it has been bringing art and music to the city for nearly 100 years.
It’s been a community effort to keep that theater going for all those years, and at the helm of that effort in recent years has been Pennyroyal Arts Council Executive Director Margaret Prim, who celebrated her work anniversary the first week of December. She says it takes a strong team of people dedicated to the preservation of such a historic building to keep things going.
The theater is owned by Christian County Government and is set to be the centerpiece for a revamping of downtown, including renovations to nearby parking, green spaces and more. Prim says they’ve been working closely with government officials on their needs and wants, and she’s excited to see what the future holds.
In the meantime, they’re preparing for their next live show, which is set to take place on December 19 as the Alhambra welcomes back the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra. They’re not strangers to this stage, as Prim says she’s worked with them several times in the past.
They’ll deliver a Christmas-time show that blends humor and nostalgia, with classic carols to big sensational holiday favorites, sure to bring some Christmas cheer to Hopkinsville.
Tickets are available through the Pennyroyal Arts Council website.
