Vice President visits Fort Campbell, talks about national defense

U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited Fort Campbell on Wednesday to have a Thanksgiving meal with service members and to discuss the role the military plays in defending the country.

Before making remarks, Vance, along with his family, helped serve food at one of the installation’s chow halls and ate with service members.

Vance talked about his love for Thanksgiving and also spotlighted what he believes are the shortcomings of political leaders on both sides of the aisle when it comes to supporting the military. In the past, Vance says soldiers were often sent to battle without a clear mission.

Vance says they are now working to ensure that service members are equipped with the necessary knowledge, training and tools to defend their country.

To conclude his remarks, Vance called the soldiers at Fort Campbell one of the reasons he is proud to be vice president.

Vance’s full speech is available on the White House’s YouTube channel.
