Police arrest Hopkinsville man for unlawfully entering a home, damaging property

Hopkinsville Police arrested 49-year-old Victor Vasquez of Hopkinsville after he reportedly broke into an apartment and fled from officers on Thursday.

Officers responded to a residence on Virginia Street for reports of a disturbance. The victim reported that their neighbor, Vasquez, reportedly forced entry into their apartment and was destroying their property.

By the time officers arrived at the scene, Vasquez reportedly returned back to his residence. As officers attempted to contact him, he allegedly fled from them through a side door.

During the brief on-foot pursuit, officers tased Vasquez twice. Once forced to the ground, Vasquez reportedly kicked the arresting officer in the chest and a physical altercation followed.

A K9 Unit was deployed to help apprehend Vasquez.

Vasquez is charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and first-degree criminal mischief.
