Local grand jury issues indictments for murder, assault crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury issued indictments for murder, rape and assault crimes on Friday.

Thirty-four-year-old Eiesha Whitlock of Hopkinsville received a superseding indictment for murder and leaving the scene of an accident without rendering any aid after she reportedly hit and killed 29-year-old Daquan Butler of Pembroke with her car in Pembroke on December 14, 2024. Whitlock was originally indicted for second-degree manslaughter.

Forty-six-year-old Junior McKnight of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy after he reportedly engaged in sexual intercourse with an individual who was unable to consent on September 14. 

Forty-four-year-old Steven Gower of Sebree, Kentucky, was indicted for first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after he reportedly grabbed the victim by the neck, threw them on a bed and choked them, leaving bruises and red marks on September 25. 

Fifty-six-year-old Walter Lewis III of Hopkinsville was indicted on multiple charges after he reportedly threatened to kill a woman and prevented her from leaving or calling 911. He was indicted for first-degree unlawful imprisonment, third-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree fleeing from police, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication and menacing. 

Twenty-six-year-old Jalan Gibson of Clarksville was indicted on multiple charges after he reportedly led law enforcement on a pursuit on July 13. He was indicted for first-and second-degree fleeing from police, first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident, disregarding a traffic control device, speeding and other lesser traffic offenses. 

Thirty-five-year-old Desmond Bryant of Hopkinsville was indicted for first-degree robbery after he reportedly used a handgun to commit a robbery at the MetroPCS Store on Fort Campbell Boulevard on September 26.
