Suspect turns himself in for fatal Princeton shooting

Twenty-year-old Hector Miguel Pena turned himself in for a shooting incident that occurred in Princeton early Thursday morning.

The shooting reportedly occurred around 2:40 a.m. in the 300 block of Beverly Lane in Princeton. Princeton Police responded to the scene and found 34-year-old Jerrod Cooper of Princeton with multiple gunshot wounds.

Cooper was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he would later die of his injuries.

Police issued a warrant for Pena’s arrest, and in the afternoon, he turned himself in and is now lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. He was originally set to be charged with first-degree assault but is now facing a murder charge.
