The Hopkinsville Tigers survived a 5 turnover night to defeat the visiting Henderson Co. Colonels 31 to 29 at the Stadium of Champions on Friday night.

The Tigers (4-4) (1-1) scored on their first drive of the night with 9:19 to go in the first quarter on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Jasiah McCarley to Aiden Jesse. The two point try was good and the Tigers led 8-0.  

The Tigers would fumble on their next three possessions and Henderson Co. would turn those three turnovers into 22 points to take a 22 to 8 lead after one quarter of play.

Hopkinsville would then score the next 17 points to take a 25 to 22 lead at halftime. They scored a safety at the 7:01 mark of the 2nd quarter of play and on the following kickoff James Bradley, Jr returned the kick 72 yards for a touchdown and scored the two point try to complete the comeback. The Tigers would never trail the rest of the game.

Hopkinsville extended their lead to nine with a 3-yard touchdown run by James Bradley, Jr with 4:34 to go in the 3rd quarter.

The Colonels final score of the night would come after Tiger Quarterback Jasiah McCarley threw an interception to Henderson Co.’s Avant Baxter with 9:14 to play. Henderson Co.’s Jack Dalton scored with 7:19 to play and after the extra point the Tigers led 31 to 29 an would hold on for the win.

The Colonels are now (4-4) (1-1) on the season and play McCracken Co. Friday night. The Tigers will visit Christian Co. for the final time on Friday night with kickoff scheduled for 7:30pm at the Stadium of Champions.
