University Heights Academy will be looking for its eighth Girls’ District 8 Soccer Tournament title in nine years Wednesday night after dispatching fourth seed Christian County 8-0 Monday night in the semifinals at the Stadium of Champions.
UHA, which has won three straight district titles, will face Fort Campbell at 6 p.m. in the championship match. The third-seed Lady Falcons upset second seed Hopkinsville 5-0 in the second semifinal Monday.
Kendall Hancock continued her scoring assault on the UHA record books with four goals against the Lady Colonels, who saw their season end at 5-16-1.
Hancock’s first goal came at 35:29 and she pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 32:04 mark. Hancock’s third and fourth goals at 26:36 and 24:00 of the first half as UHA extended its advantage to 4-0.
Maggie Mohon made it 5-0 with 17:24 to play in the first half and Kate Lynn Gibson made it 6-0 inside a minute left in the half.
While the Lady Colonels hung on for their lives, UHA eventually ended the game with just less than 18 minutes remaining on two quick goals by Audrey Perry and Kate Adams.
Hancock and Adams each added an assist while Skylar Cantrell provided a pair of assists. Ajae Oatts also had an assist for the Lady Blazers, who improved to 15-2-1 on the season.
Madison Williams had one save in the goal for the shutout.
Meanwhile, Christian County goalie NeZiyah Bell had 17 saves.
It was the final soccer game in Lady Colonels’ history as they will consolidating with Hopkinsville High School next fall.
Wednesday night’s championship match is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Stadium of Champions. Both the Lady Blazers and Lady Falcons have qualified for the Region 2 Tournament.
