Grind Session hoops tourney starts today in Hoptown

Hopkinsville will be the home to the 2nd annual Grind Session Play In Tournament today through Sunday.

Some of the top Power 5 basketball recruits in North America and Canada will be playing in the event, which will be played at Hopkinsville High School, Christian County High School, and the Planters Bank/Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex.

Christian County Public Schools Activities Director Kerry Stovall was a guest of the Early Bird Show recently and emphasized that these are not the average high school basketball players.

There are 37 teams from 16 states and Canada playing in the event. Stovall said fans will be able to see some of the top Division I recruits and signees in this tournament.

In addition to the tournament, a free Basketball camp for ages K-6 at Indian Hills Elementary School is scheduled for 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday. All attending campers will receive a free ticket to the Saturday Sessions of the Grind Session Play In tournament. Grind Session participants will be present at camp.

Tickets for the Grind Session Tournament are $15 per session and can be purchased at the gate. Students, Christian County Public Schools faculty, and active Military who present their school or military ID at the gate will be admitted for $10.

A complete schedule for today and tomorrow’s games and a bracket for the tournament is available on our website at whopam.com.
