Boys and Girls Club leaders spotlight upcoming fundraiser, construction plans

For 20 years now, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys and Girls Club has been a key part of the community, and club leaders are working to expand the organization’s impact on local youth.

Club Executive Director Terrence Davis and Board Member Cody Noffsinger appeared on WHOP to spotlight upcoming fundraisers and construction projects.

When he gives facility tours, Davis says often time folks will say that they wish they had the chance to attend a Boys and Girls Club during their youth. To give them that chance, Terrence says they will be hosting the Club Kid for a Day Fundraiser.

Folks can sign up and learn how to 3D print, make t-shirts and also play games.

Davis says the club is currently at capacity for members from kindergarten through seventh grade. However, he says they are getting ready to start construction on the Tween Center which will allow the club to serve more middle school members.

The Tween Center will be built in the existing club center between the gymnasium and the cafeteria. The area is set to have programs and activities focused on academic support, STEM, leadership and character development, arts and crafts, sports and fun.

As the club’s membership continues to grow, Davis says he would like to create a new elementary wing to the facility in the footprint of the Walnut Street Stadium.
