Blazers rout HCA, lose Hauret to leg injury

University Heights Academy’s soccer team may have won its District 8 soccer match with visiting Heritage Christian Academy Monday night, but it’s who they lost that could affect the rest of their season.

Just past the halfway point of the first half, Blazers’ senior Lincoln Hauret collided with HCA goalkeeper Caden Nowak. Hauret suffered a serious leg injury and had to be taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The injury put a damper on UHA’s 10-0 win over the Warriors that secured the No. 2 spot in next week’s District 8 Tournament at the Stadium of Champions.

Graham Conrad had two goals and four assists and Hayden Hunt had a pair of goals and an assist to lead the Blazers, who improved to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in district play.

Before his injury, Hauret had a goal and an assist. Caden Gibson also had a goal and an assist.

Landon Cherry added a pair of goals and Jack Conrad also had a goal and an assist.

The Blazers broke open the game with three goals in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

Cal Givens also had an assist and the Blazers’ defense helped keep HCA from getting many scoring chances. In fact, UHA goalkeeper Hayden Fitzsimmons didn’t have any save opportunities.

That wasn’t the case for Nowak, who was peppered by shots all night and ended the match with nine saves.

HCA falls to 0-11 on the season and 0-4 in district play.

UHA returns to action tonight at home against Marshall County while the Warriors finish their regular season tonight at home against Trigg County.
