For the second straight week, the Hopkinsville Tigers will face an undefeated opponent on the football field.
The Tigers travel to Carterville, Ill., to take on a Lions team that is 4-0 on the season.
Hopkinsville is 3-2 and coming off a 33-21 loss to the state’s No. 3-ranked team in Class 6-A, South Warren, last week. The Tigers led in the game in the second half and gave the Spartans all they wanted.
Hoptown Head Coach Dustin Lopez said he hopes his team can continue to improve tonight against a talented Carterville team.
The Tigers’ racked up 298 total yards of offense last week against South Warren. Quarterback Jasiah McCarley threw for 196 yards and a touchdown to Tremayne Clay and running back James Bradley Junior ran for 101 yards and two scores.
Carterville is coming off a 42-0 win over Herrin, Ill., last week. The Lions’ offense rolled up 238 yards rushing and have now rushed for at least 165 yards per game for the last five games dating back to last season.
Lopez said Carterville is a well-coached team and would be another challenge for his Tigers.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with airtime set for 6:30 p.m. on Newsradio 99.3 FM and 1230 AM WHOP.
