Jeffers Bend Environmental Center has gotten a bit of sprucing up, after the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels awarded just shy of $5,000 in grant funding to the environmental center.
According to a news release from the Pennyrile Resources Conservation and Development Area Council and the Jeffers’ Bend Steering Committee, the grant was in the amount of $4,931 and was used to install four new doors and seven new windows on three different buildings at Jeffers’ Bend. That brings a needed update to building in the 1800’s.
Officials says The Colonel’s grant award for construction work at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center and Botanical Gardens is another step in the ongoing sustainability and development of the center as a regional facility.
Jeffers’ Bend see thousands of visitors each year, whether that be as they attend one of the many community events held there—such as Naturefest, Torchlight Tales, Takes Kids Fishing Day and many more—or visit to walk the hiking trails or the many gardens there.
