UHA’s Sandifer, Lindsey qualify for State Golf First Round

University Heights Academy will have two girls’ golfers in next week’s KHSAA Girls’ State Golf Tournament first round after play on Monday in the Region 2 Tournament in Henderson.

Allie Sandifer finished 10th overall with a score of 82 and Campbell Lindsey finished 12th with an 84 and both scores were good enough to advance to the next round, which will be played Monday at Calvert City Country Club.

The Lady Blazers finished fourth as a team with a score of 367.

Daviess County won the team title with a 302, followed by Henderson (321), and Ohio County (337).

Henderson’s Meryl Grogan took advantage of her home course and shot a 1-under-par 71 to win the tournament. Daviess County’s Claire Reynolds was one shot back and Daviess’ Baylie Billingsley was two shots off the lead.

UHA’s Caroline Tucker finished 21st overall with a 91. The Lady Blazers’ Ella Perry tied for 38th with a 110 and Kylee Grace was 50th with a 129.

The Boys’ Region 2 Golf Tournament is scheduled to tee off today at 8:50 a.m. at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
