CCHS, HHS marching bands bring home top honors in weekend competitions

The Christian County Colonel Marching Band and the Hopkinsville High School Band of Tigers are starting competition season out strong, bringing home top honors over the weekend.

The Christian County Colonels made a full sweep at the Daviess County Fall Spectacular, earning Overall Grand Champion, Best Overall Percussion, Best Overall Guard and First Place in Class 4A. They were up against bands from across the region, including Union County, Owensboro Catholic, Edmonson County, Webster County, McLean County, Hancock County, Warren East, Apollo, Marshall County, Meade County, Henderson County, Owensboro, and Greenwood.

Meanwhile, the Hopkinsville Band of Tigers competed at the Logan County Festival of Bands, where they earned Reserve Grand Champion, finishing just shy of South Warren. The Tigers also took home Best Overall Guard honors and 1st Place in Class 4A, outshining a competitive field that included Mayfield, Dawson Springs, Trigg County, Monroe County, Russellville, Todd County, Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Barren County, and Muhlenberg County.

Now, both bands are heading toward the Murray State Festival of Champions this upcoming weekend.
