A Webster County man will be spending the next 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the sexual abuse of a child.
According to Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman and Commonwealth’s Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Zac Greenwell, 26-year-old Mykill Puckett entered a guilty plea to the charges of first-degree rape of a victim under the age of 12, first-degree assault, first-degree criminal abuse against a child under the age of 12 and first-degree wanton endangerment.
As part of the guilty plea, Puckett will serve a 30-year sentence and will not be eligible for probation. There will be a 10-year Interpersonal Protective Order to keep Puckett away from the victim. Puckett will be subject to five-years of post-incarceration supervision and required to register with the Sex Offender Registry for the remainder of his life.
Greenwell says, “The abuse in this case was simply horrific. Law enforcement and prosecutors responded with the full weight of Kentucky’s justice system. I’m grateful to Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Bobby Murray in my Office for his leadership in securing this conviction, and I thank Attorney General Coleman’s Office for their strong support to deliver justice.”
