South Warren holds on to defeat Hopkinsville 33 to 21 Friday night/Saturday morning at the Stadium of Champions

The Hopkinsville Tigers gave the 3rd ranked team in class 6A a run for their money on Friday night at the Stadium of Champions as the Spartans held on for a 33 to 21 win.

After a weather delay of an hour and 20 minutes the game kicked off at 8:20pm with Hopkinsville scoring first as the Tiger defense scored a safety to go up 2-0 with 7:00 to go in the 1st quarter of play.

After another weather delay of almost an hour and a half the Tigers would add another score with 1:57 to go in the 1st on 31-yard run by James Bradley, Jr to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead.

South Warren 1st score of the night would come with :40 second to go in the 1st on a 44-yard pass play from Camden Page to Isaiah Bridges. The 2-point try was good making the score 8-8 after 1.

The Tigers would reclaim the lead with 8:12 to go in the half on a 12-yard run by James Bradley, Jr. The PAT by Gavin Harton was good making it 15-8.

The lead would not last long as Isaiah Bridges would return the Hopkinsville Kickoff 85-yards for a touchdown and after the PAT we were tied 15-15.

South Warren would make field goals of 20 and 37 yards to lead 21 to 15 at halftime.

Hopkinsville’s 2nd half score came 2:11 to go in the 3rd on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jasiah McCarley to Tremayne Clay. The PAT failed making the score 27 to 21 South Warren. The Spartans final score of the night would come with 8:01 to go making it 33 to 21 and that would be the final score.

South Warren is now 5 and 0 on the season, while drops to 3 and 2 on the season and will play at Carterville, IL next Friday night.

South Warren ran 47 plays for 330 yards, while Hopkinsville ran 59 plays for 298 yards.

James Bradley, Jr. led the Tigers in rushing with 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jasiah McCarley was 11-30-2 for 196 yards and 1 touchdown.
