Local Small Business Commission spotlights upcoming events

Hopkinsville is home to many small businesses and to support and spotlight them, the Hopkinsville Small Business Commission has a variety of events coming up.

The commission formed in 2023 to support local small businesses and provide them with a voice. Small Business Commissioner Russ Guffey and City Administrator Diane Turner recently appeared on WHOP to talk about the events they have planned.

Art After Dark is coming back to downtown Hopkinsville on September 25 and Guffey says participating businesses will extend their hours into the evening while hosting local artists.

Then for current and prospective small business owners, the commission with be hosting a conference on November 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hopkinsville’s Murray State University Regional Campus. Guffey says the conference is a chance for folks to learn more about advertising, taxes and business planning.

The conference will include breakout sessions and panel discussions. Phil Wilkins will be the conference’s keynote speaker and he works in financial advising for small businesses.

The commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m., and more information about the group is available at hopkinsvilleky.us
