Trial will go as planned on September 22 in manslaughter case

Manslaughter suspect Jaden Johnson will go to trial on September 22 as planned, after a brief hearing in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning.

Whether trial would happen on the 22nd had been uncertain, after H.B. Quinn had been retained to represent Johnson, but it was public defender Eric Bearden appearing with Johnson in court Wednesday.  He and special prosecutor Richie Kemp informed the court that they are ready to go to trial, so Judge John Atkins ordered it so.

Prior attempts to come to a resolution have been unsuccessful in this case.

Johnson is charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with a crash on Bill Bryan Boulevard in 2023 that resulted in the death of 34-year-old Adrian Tucker. The Hopkinsville Police Department reported that Johnson had been operating the vehicle at speeds of around 90 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour speed zone.

Tucker had to be extricated from his vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson and two others were also injured in the crash.
