University Heights Academy and Hopkinsville already had met once this season on the volleyball tournament during the West Kentucky Smackdown.
That match was for bragging rights.
Tuesday night, the Lady Blazers picked up a District 8 victory by sweeping past the Lady Tigers 25-21, 25-15, 25-8 in Tiger Gym.
Gretchen Durham had 15 assists and six aces for the Lady Blazers, who improved to 6-7 overall and 1-2 in district play. Niyona Brown added three kills, two aces and a block.
Niyati Patel and Audrey Lovell each had five kills as UHA had a strong night at the net.
Kylee Grace and Ava Crawford combined for seven aces in the game for the Lady Blazers.
Meanwhile, Hopkinsville was paced by Madysen Taggart, who had six kills, two digs, and two aces. Alayna King had five assists and six digs and Kyleigh Weber provided five digs.
The Lady Tigers slipped to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in District 8 play.
UHA returns to action Thursday at home against Webster County. Hoptown plays district opponent Fort Campbell on Post Thursday night.
