Leadership within the Oak Grove Police Department is entering a new chapter. After more than 20 years of dedicated service, including nine years as assistant chief, Major Victor Lynch has been named the city’s new police chief.

The announcement came during Tuesday’s city council meeting, where Mayor Jackie Oliver and council members expressed gratitude for outgoing Chief Dennis Cunningham, who officially announced his retirement effective in October.

Lynch, who will officially step into his new role on November 2, shared his appreciation during the meeting, thanking city leaders and pledging his continued commitment to keeping Oak Grove safe and thriving.

In a post on Facebook, the department says they couldn’t be more thrilled to have Lynch stepping into the crucial role and they eagerly anticipate his leadership.
