It’s the summer that just keeps on going, as the Tennessee Valley Authority saw yet another surge in demand during hot temperatures.
In fact, the TVA saw its highest peak for demand so far this summer, somehow, on Tuesday afternoon, reaching a preliminary demand of 32,270 megawatts, at a system average of 96 degrees.
That sailed past the previous peak on July 30—that peak was 31,888 megawatts.
There are a few more days of heat forecast for the region, though the heat advisories have already been allowed to expire, and then it looks like there could be a cool down in the extended forecast.
The power system has handled the hot summer will, with all systems remaining in good health.
