Christian County High School officials are preparing to induct their newest Athletic Hall of Fame class on Friday, Sept. 5, at the Stadium of Champions.
Hall of Fame Board Member David Joiner and Athletic Director Kerry Stovall were guests on the Early Bird Show on Thursday morning.
Joiner said the ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 5 before the Colonels’ football game against McKenzie, Tenn.
This year’s inductees include the 1996 state champion softball team, basketball players Anthony Hickey Jr., Maxie Stamps, and Derrica Jones, football players Vashun Banks and Keith Tandy, softball players Tammy Hightower, Kayce Fields Brown, and Griffin Joiner, baseball player Brett Duncan, wrestlers Darren Parker and Arvel Banks as well as football contributors Mike Pyle, Dr. William Sweet, and Jimmy “Doc” Johnson.
At halftime of the game, Hickey and Joiner will have their jersey numbers retired.
Joiner said there will be two induction classes this season.
Christian County also has an alumni event planned around the Oct. 24 football game against Hopkinsville. Stovall said it will be more than a one-night event and he hopes Colonels alumni will show up in droves and spend the weekend reminiscing and sharing time with friends and former teammates.
This year’s Hoptown-County football game is the last scheduled game between the two schools, which will consolidate for the 2026-27 school year.
