In 2025 around $995,440 was donated by Kentucky farmers to the Ag. Tag Program, marking the largest single-year total ever, surpassing last year’s total by around $60,000.
The funds collected are donated equally to Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA), granting each group around $331,800. More than $4 million in Ag. Tag funds have been donated to Kentucky 4-H and FFA together since 2016. Part of the money remains in local counties to aid leadership programs, camp scholarships, FFA jackets and travel to events.
The rest of the funds will go toward KDA programs like the Ag. Athlete of the Year awards, Kentucky Women in Agriculture, the Kentucky Leopold Conservation Award and university agricultural initiatives.
The donations were praised by the leaders from Kentucky FFA and 4-H, calling them an investment in youth leadership, agricultural careers, and community impact.
Sheldon McKinney, executive director of the Kentucky FFA Foundation says as donations grow the opportunities they can provide their members in FFA chapters across Kentucky grow and it is so special that young people who are desiring a career in agriculture have found champions in Kentucky farmers supporting the Ag. Tag program. Melissa Miller, executive director of the Kentucky 4-H Foundation says they are so grateful for the Ag. Tag program and the opportunities 4-H youth are being exposed to through these funds. She hopes to see continued growth in the Ag. Tag Program.
Kentucky drivers can make a voluntary $10 donation when renewing their farm license plates, best known as Ag. Tags, to support the program.
