Heat was the big story when it came to high school sports on Monday night as warm temperatures resulted in the cancellation of two high school golf matches.
Heritage Christian Academy’s match with Caldwell County was postponed to a later date as well as University Heights Academy’s match at Trigg County.
However, Hopkinsville and Christian County’s golf teams did get their match in against Todd County Central at Elk Creek Golf Course in Elkton.
Hoptown won the three-team match with a 170, 10 shots better than the Rebels. Christian County finished with a 192.
Ryan Martin led Hopkinsville with a 40 over nine holes. Isaiah Wood had a 42 and Sam Riggs and Matt Baker each carded a 44. Henry Riggs also played for Hoptown and finished with a 50.
Drew Fincham led the Colonels with a 41 and Chris Adcock carded a 45.
Clayton Dixon (51), Brady Brown (55), and Reed Ezell (57) also played for the Colonels.
The Rebels’ Noah Rager was the low medalist with a 39.
In the girls’ match, Todd Central’s Naomi Welborn shot a 55 to defeat Christian County’s Anslee West, who finished with a 64.
