Two charged with manslaughter in the death of Hopkins Co. infant

Two Earlington residents have been arrested in connection with the death of a 10-month-old child.

According to Kentucky State Police, the investigation began after troopers were contacted by Hopkins County following the death of the infant in Earlington, after she was declared deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner in the residence of the infant’s caretakers.

Through an autopsy and further investigation, it was determined that foul play was the cause of the death.

On Thursday, the infant’s biological mother, 27-year-old Samantha Stagner of Earlington, and the mother’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Dayton Mason of Earling, were both arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details will be released by KSP at this time.
