TVA awards robotics grants to local schools, non-profits

The Tennessee Valley Authority is handing out $655,000 in grants to school and non-profits across their service region, and some of that money stayed local.

The funds are designed to support youth robotics programs, and can be used to either create a new robotics program or enhance one that already exists.  The grants are made possible through a partnership between the TVA and the Bicentennial Volunteers.

Locally, $2,500 went to the Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville-Christian County, the Gateway Academy to Innovation and Technology with Christian County Public Schools, and South Todd Elementary School.

$5,000 went to Calloway County Middle School Robotics and Murray Middle School.

TVA President and CEO Don Moul says, “TVA and BVI are working hand in hand to expand the reach of robotics education, which will help create more opportunities for youth across our seven-state region. Skills in robotics are already required for many careers today, and we want to equip our future workforce with the tools they need to step into and excel in those fields.”
