The Hopkinsville Tigers scored in the opening minute and rolled to an 8-0 boys’ high school soccer victory over visiting Lyon County on Thursday night at the Stadium of Champions.
Jason Macario and Erick Hernandez both had hat tricks for the Tigers, who improved to 2-0-1 on the season. Jamiah Shanklin and Lester Macario also scored for Hoptown, which is scheduled to play host to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday.
Despite playing on a wet field after a heavy afternoon thunderstorm, the Tigers’ offense showed no signs of having heavy feet.
Jason Macario scored the first of his three goals in the opening minute as the Tigers improved to 2-0-1 on the season.
Jamiah Shanklin scored on an assist from Alex Ramirez and Erick Hernandez scored just before halftime as Hoptown led 5-0 at the break.
Hernandez finished with a hat trick on the night as he found the back of net twice in the second half and Lester Macario added the final score for the Tigers.
Hoptown is scheduled to play host to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Monday.
