The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is planning to conduct an inspection of the Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton starting next week, which means there will be some lane restrictions needed.
According to a news release, daytime lane restrictions will begin on Tuesday, August 19, on the U.S. 68-KY 80 Cumberland River/Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton in Trigg County, as crews will be using an under-bridge inspection vehicle to conduct an inspection for approximately four days.
A team of climbers will also be conducting a hands-on inspection of the bridge at the same time.
This work will require some lane restrictions, so motorists should stay alert for signage and message boards that will guide traffic into the open lane. The sidewalk will also be closed during the inspection.
The restrictions will start at approximately 8 a.m. each day—work should be completed by Friday, weather permitting.
