University Heights Academy was back on the soccer pitch for the first time in nearly a month Monday night to open the girls’ 2025 high school soccer season at Greenwood in Bowling Green.
Gracie Ausenbaugh’s goal in the first half proved to be the game-winner as the Lady Blazers rode a strong second half defensive effort to defeat the Lady Gators 2-1.
Goal keeper Madison Williams had 11 saves and provided an assist for UHA (1-0), which had not played a game since their trip in July to the Gothia Cup in Sweden. Because of the trip, the Lady Blazers could not play any preseason scrimmages.
Kendall Hancock had a goal and an assist for UHA, which returns to action Aug. 19 against Fort Campbell in a District 8 contest.
