Although playing most of the second half a man down after a red card, the host University Heights Academy Blazers opened their 2025 soccer season with a 4-2 win over Madisonville-North Hopkins.
Both teams scored in the opening 10 minutes and UHA led 3-2 at the halftime break.
Hayden Hunt scored a pair of goals and Cadence Gibson and Lincoln Hauret each added one for UHA (1-0).
Hayden Fitzsimmons had five saves in goal for the Blazers, who return to play Aug. 18 at home against Lyon County.
