Benne tabbed as Hoppers coach for 2026 season

The Hoptown Hoppers have their coach for the 2026 season and he is a familiar face to the organization.

According to a news release on Tuesday morning, Chris Benne will return as the team’s coach next season.

Benne led the team to a 16-21 record this summer despite being hired just weeks ahead of the season beginning. The Hoppers also advanced to the Ohio Valley League semifinal series before losing to the eventual league champion Full Count Rhythm.

Prior to serving as the team’s head coach, Benne served as an assistant coach for two seasons.

“I am excited to get started recruiting for the 2026 season,” Benne said in the release. “Hopkinsville is a special baseball town and I feel blessed to spend my summer there.”

Benne is a Clarksville native and is head baseball coach at Northwest High School. He is married and has two daughters.

“The Hoppers Board of Directors are excited to have Coach Benne and his family back with the Hoptown Hoppers,” Hoppers President Charlie Henderson said in the press release.
