Woman charged with assault after allegedly striking man with vehicle

A Hopkinsville woman is facing a first-degree assault charge, after she allegedly hit a man with a vehicle early Monday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers responded to the 800 block of Younglove Street for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision, where the vehicle had left the scene.

A vehicle matching that description was spotted on Vine Street, and officers conducted a traffic stop, where they made contact with 36-year-old Starnesha Murphy of Hopkinsville.  Investigation revealed that Murphy allegedly tried to pin the male victim between her vehicle and another that was parked, creating a grave risk of death to the victim.

The victim sustained serious physical injuries to his legs and feet, requiring transportation to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment.

Murphy was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
